GLADESVILLE OPTOMETRISTS
Services
We invite you to experience the benefits of choosing Premier Eyecare for all your eyecare needs as you explore your options for correcting and enhancing your vision.
Comprehensive Eye Testing
Regular eye tests are important for people of all ages – here at Premier Eyecare we recommend annual examinations to check your glasses and your eye health. Our lifestyles, work patterns and use of digital technology all have an impact on our vision.
At Premier Eyecare, our optometrists provides individually-tailored eye tests using state-of-the-art equipment including digital retinal imaging and Ocular Coherence Tomography. Please allow 30-45 minutes for your eye examination with us – this allows for thorough examination of your eyes and time to answer any eye health questions you may have.
Our comprehensive eye test includes:
- Measuring your visual acuity (how well you can see) and determining your prescription
- Assessing the health of your eyes and checking for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes-related visual changes, dry eye syndrome and other eye health conditions
- Providing advice on nutrition, nutritional supplements and lifestyle to promote eye health
- Taking a photographic record of your eye health through digital retinal imaging
- Discussing tailored vision solutions which suit your specific needs and lifestyle
We may conduct additional tests such as a visual field test to assess your peripheral vision or OCT (a more detailed back of the eye analysis to check for earliest signs of eye diseases).
At Premier Eyecare we offer Medicare bulk-billing for eye examinations and on-the-spot health fund claiming for your optical benefits.
How do you prepare for your eye examination?
There’s not much preparation needed – however it’s helpful if you can come armed with any knowledge of family eye health problems, for example a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration. Please bring along your glasses/sunglasses if you wear them and if you are a contact lens wearer, let us know what type of lenses you currently use.
Contact Lens Fitting
Lenses are more comfortable nowadays, with many more options for correcting both distance and near vision. You can trial lenses before you buy – we’ll find the best lens and prescription to suit you. Daily, fortnightly, monthly, coloured contact lenses, soft and hard – we have them all! You also have the option to have contact lenses delivered straight to you!
Dry Eye Treatment
What causes dry eye syndrome?
Environmental factors such as the seasons, changes in weather, air conditioning and heating, outdoor sport, too much computer and digital device use and inadequate water intake are the most common culprits for eyes that are feeling dry (or watery!), gritty, red and sore.
Some prescription medications can cause dry eye and for women, hormonal changes in pregnancy and menopause may also contribute. As we age, our eyes don’t produce as many tears and this can also lead to dry eyes. Other causes of dry eye syndrome include blepharitis (an inflammation of the eyelids),allergies and system conditions like rosacea, thyroid issues and arthritis.
How is it treated?
We recommend a thorough eye health assessment at Premier Eyecare to professionally diagnose and treat dry eye syndrome. Our optometrist will look at the lifestyle factors contributing to your dry eye symptoms and will advise you on the best way to manage your symptoms through visual habit, diet and lifestyle modification, with the help of our range of speciality dry eye products.
